Recently, MAC has released some really cute new collections! The heavenly creature collection is inspired by outer space and the description on the website encourages you to “discover a whole new, gorgeous galaxy of supernova shades.” My favourites from this collection are both lipsticks: MAC Venus and MAC Cut a Caper. The Beth Ditto collection is inspired by the provocative singer-songwriter by the same name. Casual colour is described as “weekend chic, M∙A∙C style.” It is soft and beautiful, and I fell in love with the lightweight all-in-one colour for cheeks and lips. Here are my three favourite lip colours from the new collections:

From left to right, MAC Venus, MAC Cut a Caper (both Lustres from Heavenly Creature), and MAC You’re Perfect Already (A Pro Longwear Lipcreme from Beth Ditto).

Here is my favourite all-in-one-colour:

MAC Lazy Sunday.

I wasn’t a huge fan of the all-in-one colour at first because I found that it really accentuated any imperfections in my lips and looked rather chalky and un-flattering. However, once I tried layering this on top of (or underneath) MAC Venus and MAC Cut a Caper, it was love at first swipe. MAC Lazy Sunday really softens any lipstick and makes it look so much nicer and creamier. I am not a huge fan of cream blush, so I probably would not wear it on my cheeks, but I see myself using this product quite a bit in conjunction with my other lippies.

MAC Venus is an absolutely gorgeous colour, albeit not one that I would normally tend to gravitate towards (get it, Heavenly Creature? Gravitate? Oh goodness, I’m so punny). I normally go for lighter, creamier shades. However, I really do think that this is a beautiful colour. It is described as a sheer yellow pink with pearl, but I really don’t think that description does it justice. It is very vibrant and really is reminiscent of a bright red Venus in the night sky.

This is what MAC Venus lipstick looks like with a coat of MAC Lazy Sunday on top. It is a gorgeous, creamy, yellow pink, which really made my teeth look phenomenal!

MAC Cut a Caper is by far my favourite colour that I have tried on in a while. On the website, it is described as a midtone peachy pink. This colour contrasts phenomenally with my fair skin. On me, it is a vibrant pinky coral. I absolutely love the finish on this one, too. It is very nice and creamy and looks very juicy on the lips. This is a perfect vacation colour!

You’re Perfect Already is a really pretty nude colour. Because it is a Pro Longwear, it required quite a bit more manipulation than the two Lustres. It dried rather quickly and became somewhat tacky, settling into the lines on my lips and turning into a bit of a mess. I was able to tame it by blotting at my lips and spreading the colour around. The photo above shows the lipcreme alone. Afterwards, I applied some Rosebud Salve on top and it wore like a charm.

These have been my favourites from the new MAC collections! What are yours?
